In recent years, a rare and moving musical connection has formed between Enrico Macias and Omer Avital. This encounter brings together an iconic artist, one of the most recognizable voices of French chanson and North African musical heritage, with a contemporary composer, conductor and creator whose work bridges tradition, jazz and modern orchestral sound.
The collaboration began when Enrico Macias attended a performance in Paris conducted by Omer Avital, featuring the work “North African Dream”. That evening sparked a powerful musical dialogue connecting Algeria, France and the wider world – a meeting of roots, memory and contemporary sound.
It soon became clear that this encounter would grow beyond a single moment and develop into a shared musical journey. Enrico Macias chose to add lyrics to Avital’s compositions and perform them in his distinctive voice, creating new interpretations alongside renewed orchestral arrangements of some of his greatest classics.
The result is a rare musical meeting between generations, between a legendary voice and a modern musical language – a concert that brings past and present together on one stage.
