A Trip to South America
Tuesday, June 17 | 20:30 | Showcase Stage
The upbeat and lively performance by Trio Indio is a fascinating journey to South America and its warmth, rhythms, colors, humor, and, of course, the music that characterizes the region.
This special show features songs, melodies, and stories about Latin music culture. The performers, dressed in traditional ponchos and sombreros, share the origins of the songs and talk about the authentic instruments they play, such as the Andean guitar charango, traditional drum bombo, pan flute, and bongos.
It all began in 1989, when three students — all new immigrants from Argentina — met at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Out of their shared love for music and South American traditions, they created Trio Indio: a band that takes audiences on a musical journey through Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, and Colombia.
