Celebration of the Night – The Music of Yemenite Jewish Tradition
A performance by the Yama Yemen Ensemble, bringing back to the stage the sounds and voices of Yemenite Jewish culture, with a special focus on women’s singing, a rich musical tradition passed down through generations and rarely heard beyond the community itself.
The performance blends sacred and secular songs alongside musical gems discovered in rare archives, offering a journey into an ancient Jewish culture preserved through generations in exile. Under the artistic direction of the ensemble’s founder, Talia G. Soulan, the group presents traditional Yemenite singing in a live acoustic performance. Accompanied by traditional instruments and powerful voices, the music creates an emotional experience that connects memory and tradition, inviting the audience into a world of depth, heritage and warmth.
Performers:
Talia G. Soulan – vocals and artistic direction | Hadar Nehemia – vocals | Michal Zandani – vocals | David Cohen – oud | Guy Yehezkel – ney | Avri Borochov – double bass | Itamar Gutman – percussion
Production: Dorit Atzlan – Dorit Productions
