Beyond the Door tells the story of Nina, a 40-year-old hopeless romantic and cleanliness addict who is obsessed with romantic comedies. All Nina wants is love, but she has one problem – she hasn’t left her home in three years due to a traumatic event. Some call her condition agoraphobia, but Nina prefers to call it “leave me alone.”
Then, one day, the worst possible thing happens: the penniless son of Nina’s landlady unexpectedly returns from abroad and demands that she vacate the apartment. Nina, determined to do anything to avoid leaving her safe haven, finds herself living with a strange man who is not only messing up her home but also, and most of all, her life. But as the bond between the two grows, Nina must decide: will she only open the door to her home, or to her heart as well?
This comedic drama by the Habima Theater is a simple story about loneliness and love, about harsh reality, and about escaping into films to experience an alternative reality.
